Coffee, Coffee, Coffee!

Image
"In dog coffees, I’ve only had one." ~Anonymous Here's a little confession, I was late to the coffee drinking game. I did not partake of the go juice until well into my thirties and I didn't start drinking it regularly until a few years ago. I come from a long line of coffee drinkers, my grandparents keep coffee brewing all day, so it was inevitable that I get on the java train eventually. 15 OZ- Make Every Day your Beach! Mug Obviously finding the right brew is important but I find that having a great mug is just as important. There are a few things that I look for when finding the perfect mug. One, I look for a large mug. I enjoy a large cup or two of coffee but I also like to use it for soups, cereal, or ice cream. All of Beach Bun 's mugs come in an 11 or 15-ounce size. I personally go all in at 15-ounces and it is the perfect size for me. Second, I like a mug that speaks to me. I have mugs from different places I have been or ...

Let's Take a Look... Beach Bun has a line of apparel, tote bags, mugs, and hats available with several image options. If you are like me you like a little more about the product you're purchasing. So today we are going to take a look at a few items that are available on our site.  Beach Bun T-Shirt  This is the "I Need Vitamin Sea" Women's Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Heather Green. The brand of the shirt is Anvil. The material is very soft and feels like one of those t-shirts that you've had in your closet for years. You know the one I'm talking about, it has weird grease stains, bleached out spots, and maybe a hole under the arm. It's the shirt you live in and love. Well congratulation, you can now look a little less disheveled. The image on the front of the shirt is clear and the details are distinct. The nice thing about this graphic is that it is pliable and not stiff. I know I've purchased a graphic tee or 2 that the photo was so ...

Hello Winter...

Image
This morning I woke up to 16-degree weather in Virginia Beach. There is a winter storm moving into our area with the expectation of up to 6 inches of snow. As I sit here, shivering, I find myself desperately missing the 75-degree weather from a few weeks ago. I enjoy the changing seasons but I typically enjoy the Spring and Fall more than the extreme temperature of the Winter and Summer. Yet, here I sit wondering where my warm fuzzy socks are buried and dreaming of laying on a beach in some tropical location. One of my favorite travel-related websites is Budget Travel because they offer great tips on travel and budget-friendly locations. Last month they published an article called “3 Warm Places to Escape Winter” and for the most part, I just skimmed through it. Today, however, I find myself reading it with determination and purpose. Where can I escape this bone-chilling cold without a price tag that only a Kardashian can afford?  Budget Travel to the rescue with these...

Happy New Year from our Beach Bun family.  We hope 2018 is your best year yet!

Adios 2017, Hello 2018!

Image
"Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties." ~Helen Keller The end of the year seems to signal reflection and a hope to accomplish all those resolutions that we failed to accomplish over the past year. According to Forbes Magazine, 40% of Americans make resolutions each year! I am one of those people who set resolutions every year, 10 to be exact. My list is typical, lose weight, eat more vegetables, read more books, learn a second language, and travel more. The year begins with motivation and after March...well I'm not eating vegetables, I'm too busy to read a book, and who has the extra money to make an extra trip this year? Forbes also reports that only 8% of those who make resolution accomplish them. Happy to know that I'm in good company with the other 92% of well intentioned resolutioners!  Last year at this time, I was newly married and looking a...

Top 5-"Day at the Beach" Must Haves

Image
Ok...first of all, I will admit that I am guilty of taking too much stuff for a day at the beach. Over the years I have perfected my Mary Poppins or more currently the Hermoine Granger bag. I am able to pull from my magic bag anything that anyone might need today, tomorrow, or a month from now. Basically, I like to be prepared for ALL contingencies. This is an awesome trait to have on a road trip, at the park, or on a ball field. However, when you have to carry everything over hot sand, it's probably a good idea to pare down the list and bring only the necessities. So here are my top 5 items that are must-haves for a day at the Beach.  (On a side note: I will be shamelessly plugging items from the  Beach Bun  online shop by adding links. Just click on the link for more information about the product) Umbrella .  A good umbrella is important for a number of reasons. The first is obvious, it creates shade to help keep you from getting a sunburn. The umbr...

Bookaholics Hit the Beach!

Image
There are few things I enjoy more than sitting on the beach under an umbrella, listening to the waves, and reading a good book. So, what makes a good beach book? For me, it needs to be fun, a little romantic or something that takes me out of reality. My husband prefers non-fiction or a military history book. We all have our own reading pleasures. I'll be reviewing books and giving you suggestions on authors and books that I enjoy. However, I want to hear from you, what are your favorite beach reads and why? The first book that I highly recommend is Body Movers by Stephanie Bond. Here's the synopsis of the book from ebooks: So Carlotta Wren's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white-collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue-blood fiancé dumping her. A...
